August 8, 2012 – Telvent GIT, S.A., a leading real-time IT solutions and information provider for a sustainable world, announced today that it has won a new contract with Compañía Logística de Hidrocarburos (CLH) in Madrid, Spain, to upgrade the company’s existing pipeline management system.
The new, state-of-the-art Telvent monitoring technology is a highly distributed real-time platform that makes the most of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) capabilities to optimize operations, maintenance and business management. Its enhanced functionality, based on key industry standards, will further improve the security, responsiveness and reliability of the CLH network.
The current system is also a Telvent solution—the two companies have been working together for more than 15 years to ensure safe, efficient distribution of refined fuels throughout Spain.
“We are proud to once again be CLH’s technology partner, and look forward to providing them with the newest, best technology to meet their and their customers’ needs,” said Telvent's Chairman and CEO, Ignacio Gonzalez. “Such long-term business relationships can create powerful efficiencies through a unique understanding of each others employees, systems and processes.”
CLH chose Telvent based on its positive experiences with its previous solutions. The current SCADA system was successfully and seamlessly installed in 2002. At that time, CLH was able to run its existing system while the upgrade was being made—avoiding operation shortages. Both systems were able to run simultaneously during the testing phase, ensuring that service remained uninterrupted, allowing CLH to better serve its clients.
The new CLH project will be completed by the third quarter of 2013, and will be the third SCADA solution that Telvent has provided CLH. The company also has utilized Telvent’s SimSuite Pipeline advanced modeling and simulation technology for leak detection and batch tracking.
