DMG Events – organiser of Gastech, ADIPEC and World Heavy Oil, and part of the Daily Mail & General Trust PLC – has formed a strategic alliance with Global Event Partners (GEP), a specialist organiser of oil & gas and infrastructure events, welcoming the company as an affiliate into the DMG Events network.
DMG Events believes GEP’s expertise in Africa in particular will allow many new doors to be opened, and for leading international events such as Gastech to connect to thriving new growth regions for natural gas and LNG. With such significant activity under way in countries such as Mozambique, Angola and Tanzania – all at various stages of the LNG export development cycle – the ability to reach into these key new markets at a government level will be very welcome to key Asian gas and LNG buyers already involved with Gastech Korea 2014.
Founded only last year, Global Event Partners has already delivered successes such as The Lebanon International Oil & Gas Summit (LIOG), held in Beirut, Lebanon, and The East Africa Oil & Gas Summit (EAOGS), held in Nairobi, Kenya – thanks to the expertise of its team of highly-connected and experienced events executives.
Fully endorsed by the Energy Ministries of Lebanon and Kenya respectively, both summits were acclaimed as the most prestigious in-country oil and gas events to have been held to date in these important emerging markets.
GEP has the distinct advantage of having major offices in Beirut, Nairobi and Cairo, delivering a strength in local knowledge and a relationship development process that cannot be equalled over distant emails or telephone calls.
“At Global Event Partners we really believe in the importance of local partnerships,” said the company’s Director, Rob Percival, “and we focus on understanding the needs and ambitions of the governments in the countries we work in.’’
“It was through fostering these relationships that we were able to be so successful with our launch events in Kenya and Lebanon, offering our clients the highest possible level of conference and networking opportunities.’’
Commenting on the strategic thinking behind the new alliance, Mark Carr, President, Energy Sector, DMG Events, said: “There is a lot of potential to work together to expand our portfolio of oil and gas events and we have some exciting projects we’re looking into for 2014 and beyond.”
Ultimately the new partnership will help DMG Events to ensure that all major events are better connected through the key stakeholder relationships developed at government and national oil company level. The fundamental belief, says the company, is that “no event can truly deliver substance and value to the industry unless it is strongly supported by the governments of the country or region it aims to serve”.
The new affiliation of GEP to the DMG Events network will help to strengthen future relationships at the most relevant levels. Who knows – maybe soon we will see Gastech arriving in Africa.
